13th December 2010 (Alex Young)

The Others.
7-a-side (almost) and Hamilton goes over.
Justin / Ed / Graham / Rob / Harvey / Jerome / Toma / AlexY
After the "high" of Sunday afternoon's victory the Monday night encounter aganist the others was a banana skin.  Anything but.  Age and guile won through over youth and exhuberance and it was a 3-2 victory to us through quality passing and simple football.  Quality team performance all around and it was refreshing to hear AlexH berating the other team for their direct tactics.  Even with Sunday's Man of the Match Adam Heeks joining the Others half way through the goals still did not come.
Lots of good performances across the park meant it was difficult to pick out a player but going with Alex Young - scored 2 goals and was all over the pitch working for the team.
One downside was the injury to Justin who went over on his ankle while making a cat-like save.  Hope it will be better soon Justin.

MATCH - Russel School (Home) - Sunday 12th December

A crisp Sunday afternoon saw the ancient footballing rivalry between Christ Church & Russell schools renewed at the sporting amphitheatre that is the Clement Danes astro pitch.

Playing to retain the prestigious Sathi Cup our team took to the pitch under the watchful gaze of our Director of Football, Justin Edwards and Head Coach, Ed Hems. Joining Justin and Ed on the touchline were a capacity crowd of 18 people (and a dog) who were served up a game worthy of the best traditions of this fixture which ebbed & flowed across the 90 mins.

The 4-4-2 starting line saw instant pressure being applied and Russell took the lead through a finely taken goal by Alex Hamilton. This setback was soon negated by a fine strike by Alex Young who wheeled off to celebrate in some style only to find his team mates were too knackered to run after him and join in !

Half time saw the team buoyed up by the sight of Jeremy lighting up another cigarette and the tactical changes of bringing Wall and Heys into central midfield. The second half saw Christ Church take the upper hand and we took the lead through a crisply taken penalty by Phil Wall.

From 2-1 down Russell rallied strongly and won a penalty when Graeme Foster sliced their centre forward in half (trust me Graeme, it was a penalty and you did touch him !). A good penalty giving Amar no chance left the scores at 2-2 going into the final quarter.

Our winner came 10 mins from time. Looking forward to his post match cigarette Jeremy ambled over to take a fine corner which was met by Adam Heeks who powerfully headed into the far corner – a top goal !

A frantic final 5 minutes saw the normal share of drama and goal mouth scrambles but we managed to hold on to secure the cup and the undying respect of the Chorleywood primary schooling community. For the record Adam Heeks was nominated Man of the Match and won a meal for 2 which the Sathi had kindly donated.

Justin ed terry alex h rob s harvey phil amar toma andy adam ian graham

The others again

Now that's what I like to see- what you say- well, their forwards getting frustrated because they could not score.

We scored first good finish from rob

We played better tonight all round and we created lots of chances which is always encouraging.

We got tired and they equalised but it took them a while. 1-1

They scored again 2-1

Their third goal was disallowed because the goal scorer controlled the ball with his hand

Final score 2-1

Man of th match- great goal keeping justin

22nd November 2010 (Jerome)

david, ed, jerome, andy, justin, alex h, harvey, toma, terry, rob s, amar, alex y
the others again
we scored first, great strike from rob s 1-0
unlike on previous occasions they did not reply straight away, it took them a while
most of their goals came from our own 'comedy capers' at the back
we had stan & ollie, lou & bud, eric & ern, ron & ron.....
too many of us play in the back pocket of our own keeper, so we have so many players milling about our goal mouth constantly inviting their strikers onto us
if you watch the others they have a good line with their back four and then a good gap to their midfield, disciplined and organized constantly helping each other with chat
final score 4-1 to the others
man of the match- good performance from jerome-well played

Monday, November 15, 2010

15th November 2010 (Amar)

Justin mr o'leary david toma andre ed ian alex h harvey rob s terry phil amar alex y

The others again

Cold cold night

Foggy night

Took a long time for either side to score but we were the most likely with lots of early attempts at their goal

The pressure told and amazing- we scored first 1-0

We created a lot of chances during the match but our finishing was poor

Their youth told in the end and we lost 5-1

Man of the match- there was one player who always gave a good final ball creating lots of goal scoring opps and ran their back 4 around. He put in a great cross for alex y to score our only goal. I know some of you oldies at the back could not see up front but trust me he put in a fabulous performance. Well played amar.

Monday, November 1, 2010

1st November 2010 (Toma)

David mr o leary jerome justin ed terry rob harvey ian richard amar toma.

Everyone enjoyed that one
The others again
Hard work but we did well
Also seemed to be a bit more cohesive moving forward as a team
We lost 5-1
Toma scored our only goal

Man of the match- what a great run and finish for our only goal- well played toma.

Monday, October 25, 2010

25th October 2010 (Terry)

the others again

amar, rob s, terry, justin, richard m, ian, phil w, alex h, toma. harvey

the other dave on their side and 'D' who play up front are too much for us to handle

we kept them out for a long time but their pace and movement had it's way in the end

however at he other end we had some good passing and scored twice

but you guessed it, we lost

final score 5-2 to the others

man of the match: terry played well in defence and goal so well done terry.

11th October 2010 (Ed)

Amar ian justin david terry rob s ed alex h michael paul

The others again

The same story for the monday after the 11 a side sunday

Low energy meant that our keeper was under constant pressure- too many one on ones meant he had no chance, lazy good for nothing......
Sorry got distracted
They beat us 5-1
Rob s got our only goal which was a great finish.
Man of the match- what a great comeback- well played edward.

MATCH - Little Chalfont (Home) - Sunday 10th October

4-4 versus the Little Chalfont XI.
Team:  Justin, Amar,  Richard, Graham, Danny, Phil H, Alex H, Toma, Alex Y,
Phil W,  Paul, Ian

A thrilling match played in sunshine conditions produced an 8 goal thriller
with honours even and both sides happy with the points (and pride) shared.

They started better with some slick passing aided by the wind being at their
backs.  They quickly raced into the lead before we stormed back to be 2-1 in
front thanks to one from Phil W and a stunning effort from Danny.  Our lead
was short lived and we quickly allowed them back into the match before once
more getting our noses in front to lead 3-2 at the break through a fine
header at the back stick by Alex Young.

We had the better of the 1st half and got some real joy down the left with
Phil and Danny combining well.

The second half was a more tighter affair, and our lack of squad depth (12)
really showed as our opponents rotated frequently to keep legs fresh as the
game got stretched.  Additionally we had some walking wounded with Amar and
Toma both picking up knocks.

We quickly conceded after the break and then found ourselves 4-3 down midway
through.  We finally managed to snatch the equaliser with 10 or so minutes
to go and despite there being a couple of chances at both ends, I think
honours even was about right...and it leaves the door open nicely for a
rematch.

All in all, a good day out, a fair result and some good money raised for the
Anthony Nolan Trust (which I am thankful to you all for).

Thanks to Ed for refereeing.

MOM:  Phil Heys for an all action solid display down the left.

27th September (Oberon)

Firstly a very warm welcome to 'Oberon' a new player dad (Aaron in year 2)

Well played Oberon an excellent debut.

Justin, amar, graham, oberon, alex h, terry, phil, alex y, toma, mark, Ian,

Not so good this week

general view is that our midfield is the problem

the others constantly charge through and keep  our disciplined defenders under constant pressure!!

good discussion in the pub after

we only go for ' ONE PINT'  and it is only once a month, a chance to have a quick chat, no big deal, it would be nice to see more of you!

we lost 5-1,

Man of the match: for his disciplined defending against all the odds, the man of the match is oberon-well played.

20th September (Phil Wall)

david, justin, paul, graham, ian, alex h, amar, alex y, phil, mark, toma, rob s, terry,

the others again

toma went over, 12 vs. 12 no advantage either way

full size pitch, smaller goals

Rocky was on fire 2 quick goals with great finishing, we were 2-0

just like last week we were more resolute

but we did let them back in 2-2

we worked hard and focused

and yes rocky again 3-2 to us

we not only held on but had chances for more

in the old days we would have buckled

but we stood strong against the storm and held firm

final score 3-2, yes we won!

Man Of the Match: Phil 'rocky' wall. If you want to know how to hold the ball and then score goals with good finishing then I can let you know next week, but back to phil, seriously, excellent play, great finishing. someone did say that only bib wearer's could qualify for man of the match but he played so well he has got to get it, well done rocky.

13th September (Whole Team)

What a great performance
Justin, Amar, Mark, Toma, Terry, David, Graham, Rob S, Alex Y almost full pitch, small goals
we were up against the others who not only had their graham but a new pacy attacker
they struggled to score for a long time
we defended very well
they finally scored  1-0
they struggled to score again
we kept pressure on them and they were hanging on near the end
it just would not go in for us
and so with all our pressing they got us at the end and scored
final score 2-0
despite the defeat I felt we ALL performed very well as a team and it was one of our better team performances
we just did not have that cutting edge in front of goal
MAN OF THE MATCH: I have to say every member of our team played and performed well and gave everything. In the early days we would have lost 8-0!
So No man of the match BUT MEN OF THE MATCH YES OUR WHOLE TEAM, WELL PLAYED GUYS VERY PROUD OF OUR PERFORMANCE.

6th September - Breaking news: missing match report is found

The missing match report for Monday 6th Sept 2010 has returned from being lost in the ether!

30th August 2010 (Rob)

richard, graham, amar, rob s, phil, alex h

the others only had 3, so alex h went over

5 vs 4

we would surely hammer them

Not so

would you believe it, they were 4-0 up, what I hear you say

alex h ran their game very well with good support

but what of us I hear you say

well we had the goal machine of rob s, hatrick boy, 3 good goals

4-3 But then a solo effort from one of the others and they were 5-3 up

we did not let our heads drop we kept on, another two goals 5-5

and then finally we were in front 6-5

they made us work hard

final score 6-5 to us

man of the match: has to be Rob S for his hatrick and great play on the left

The gate after quick beers only 3 but we kept it going and hopefully a bigger turn-out at the end of September.

the floodlights were on tonight-winter is on the way.

Monday, August 23, 2010

23rd August 2010 (Justin)

luggage man, rambo, keitel, rocky, sports reporter & tomahawk

the others gave us dave

tight game until toma came

then we had a good game and justin was excellent in goal

amar scored our first two and had many chances for a hatrick but wasted them all

phil had many chances and scored two i think

we had the extra man and it showed

final score 7-2 to us

man of the match- justin excellent in goal

Monday, August 16, 2010

16th August 2010

justin, ian, rob s, harvey, alex h, amar

the others had loads,

total pick and mix

amar went over and they sent a few over

the others scored first but which others?

harvey keitel was chopping everyone down - just like in bad lieutenant, broken limbs everywhere

nick knowles was doing his hair

handy andy was doing circus tricks

just in case was making loads of saves

john the baptist had his knee ligaments spread open by nick knowles hairdryer

dave the rave was mega pissed off

dale winton played like maradonna

the final score 7-1 to the original others

good match over the full pitch

if are not on holiday try and come along if you can-you can see from above that our turn-out was very low and keitel wanted to make some home vists!!

Monday, August 2, 2010

2nd August 2010 (Harvey)

richard, amar, justin, rob s, mark, phil, ian, harvey , terry, alex y,

great turn-out

full pitch small goals

they scored first and second 2-0

and again 3-0

great goal by rob s 3-1

and another from good play great goal from ian 3-2

they scored again 4-2(final score)

they had many chances but we defended well

man of the match- rob s played well and so did ian but i thought harvey played very well tonight(someone pass this e-mail onto him please)

Monday, July 26, 2010

 full pitch smaller goals

we struggled, no organization,

they scored first as usual

we got a scrappy goal back

they won 4-1

lots of us will be on holiday over the coming weeks so turn-out may vary

so please try and play if you are not away

19th July 2010 (Amar Brother-in-Law)

ustin, graham, mark, amar, alex h, harvey, rob s, toma, craig and special guest from scotland: my brother-in-law phil adam.

great turn-out brillaint game

full pitch

long time before anyone scored

but you guessed it 'the others' scored first  and second 2-0

we came back with a goal 2-1

then they scored again 3-1 final score

i thought we played well

but a few mistakes but we should not single out anyone

nobody at fault becuase it is a team game and ultimately the vice-captain phil wall must take full responsiblity for letting the others score 3-you must improve phil.

man of the match-my brother -in-law phil adam(otherwise heather will kill me) but he did play very well up and down.

on a brighter note there was a unanimous(spelling?) vote to award amar the champagne- because he has been the best player consistently over the past 9 months- thanks guys and thanks for your vote phil wall!

Monday, July 12, 2010

12th July 2010 (Toma)

closer game they won 5-4

man of the match: toma good engine up and down

top of the match: phil wall

strop of the match: phil wall about his top

cock up of the match: john' throw out- sideways and backwards to give the others a corner!

quietest man on the pitch: alex h!

see you all next week-which is the last paid week-unless we pay Ed for another 10 weeks!

Monday, July 5, 2010

5th July 2010 (David)

David, amar, graham, toma rob s, alex h, scott, richard, ian

the others  again

they scored first 1-0

but with scott up front we hit back with 2 goals 2-1-we were leading ,what?

we lost our way but some highlights

alex h scored a great curler and david made some good saves

amar had to handle the ball in our area so it did not puncture off his steeled chest!

they ran out 8-3 winners

man of the match- great goal by alex h BUT david played very well in goal so he gets man of the match tonight- well played david

we all need to think if we can committ over the summer as we need another £500 to keep it going- remember if we stop we MAY never get the pitch back again!!

Monday, June 28, 2010

28th June 2010 (Phil Wall)

amar, toma, alex h, phil, rob s,

poor turn-out the the others had a swarm

pick & mix

10 v 9 (10 for us the the others had their best player graham- so fairly even)

the others scored 2

we finally got going and got stronger during the match

we ran out 6-5 winners

man of the match: not many of us so it is not difficult to get the award. After a few weeks where his play was stagnant he came back to his best form tonight and had a great game. well played phil wall you are man of the match and you deserve it- great play tonight.

david, graham, justin, mark, amar, alex h, andy, toma , amar, scott, rob s, and special guest john lees

but

the others were possessed!

we scored one goal and they scored like their lives depended on it

what is wrong with them

don't they know we had an important game yesterday and tonight was the wind down!

crazy crazy guys

you don't think they are on something do you?

anyway

good to have scott back in the fold after his knee injury

MATCH - Sean Team (Home) - (Team Talk)

Goalkeeper: Clean sheet

Defenders: DEFEND

Midfielders: Attack & Defend

Forwards: Score lots & lots of goals

Captain: Shout at everyone (including the guy cutting the grass)

You know we have a strong team when Amar has to start on the bench!

If we are leading at half-time then Amar can be 'left-back in the changing rooms' !(old ones are the best)

+++++++++++++++++++++++

Here is the starting 11 for sunday: 4-3-3
Goal-keeper: john weedon
Left back: Justin Edwards
Centre back: Graham Foster
Centre back: Rob West
Right Back: Danny Young
Midfielders: Alex Hamilton, Phil Heys, Rob Songhurst
Forwards: Toma Habashi, Alex Young, Phil Wall.
Subs; Amar Sharma, David Williams, Richard Standrig.
1) Danny Young will keep their left winger shackled  for the whole game.
2) Graham Foster will keep the rest of the back 3 in line-no wandering out of position(discipline please)-keep a straight line-don't go beyond half-way line-defend as a solid unit-keep em out!
3) Alex Hamilton , Phil Heys, Alex Young and Phil Wall keep the ball very well so we all need to try and get the ball to them and let them move it around amongst themselves- so always look out for them and pass.
4) Keeper not allowed to pick up back passes
5) Ref will penalise foul throws
6) If we want to win, all of our flair players will need to play a full 90 mins!
I want us to be 3-0 up before they have the time to put their pension books away!
Studies show that shock & awe works well on the older crowd so no dilly-dallying- from kick off we want a fast paced game- to put them on the back foot.
If anyone else wants to be manager then feel free BUT remember to many cooks spoil the broth so shut up eh and play!
Sunday is not to be taken too seriously-we should all have fun BUT let's give em a good hiding eh!

MATCH - Sean Team (Home) - 13th June 2010

the replied 1-1

we were playing better and had lots of chances but tiredness set in

3-3 at full-time

man of the match: john, great in goal once again

pub after: plans made for 11-a-side on 13th june

24th May 2010 (Alex Young)

the line-up: john, amar, graham, andy, alex h, rob s, phil, toma , harvey, david, alex y.

the others again, toma, harvey and david went over.

now, normally they score first but we scored first second and third 3-0.

you know it they then scored BUT not how you think, amar scored an own goal. (it was a fantastic header though) 3-1

we then scored again 4-1

and again 5-1.

alex young scored a load- we miss his goal scoring ability

man of the match: john played well in goal again but I have to give it to alex y, great play up top well done alex y.

Monday, May 17, 2010

17th May 2010 (Rob)

the line up:

mark, graham, amar, paul, justin, richard, rob s, rob w, terry, harvey, phil.

the others again harvey went over and the others gave us dave.

full pitch.

you know it they scored first 1-0

we equalised with a great goal from dave 1-1

they scored again 2-1

AND THEN
the  wonder goal from rob songhust 2-2

they scored straight after-we have to stop that , we always seem to concede after we score! 3-2

a scrambled effort and we equlised 3-3

but then we let it go the ran out 5-3 winners.

as a team we were not so good tonight and I know why.

we missed our captain alex hamilton-all is forgiven come back- you can shout at us as much as you like.
Alex hamilton runs the game for us and we need him to keep us right.

now your asking how did alex hamilton get he man of the match award without even playing- only joking.

man of the match: rob songhursts goal was a shining beacon of hope in an otherwise poor performance. well done rob.

Monday, May 10, 2010

10th May 2010 (Graham)

The line-up:

Justin, Graham, Paul(new guy), Andy, Rob S, Amar, Alex H, Terry, Alex Y, Toma, Richard, Harvey, David, Mark.(WHAT A GREAT TURN-OUT!)

The others again.

Full size pitch, Harvey and David went over.

We play very well. Some good link up play going forward and had many chances to score.

Also Graham was great in defence. At the end, the other's best player (also called graham) conceded that our Graham had him in his back pocket!

As usual they scored first and despite having many chances it took us a while to reply but Toma put it away nicely.1-1

We gifted them their second goal with some sloppy play. 2-1.

Again we had a few chances to equalise but it would not go in.

We had them under a fair bit of pressure and in the las 30 seconds  they conceded a corner and Alex Y headed it in  2-2. Final result.

It is certainly looking better for us as a team for the nexc 11-a-side.

Justin managed to get Rob S in the face with a throw-out from goal so blood was drawn but let's not look back in anger, I heard you say, at least not today.

I reckon if Captain Alex H can organise us for the next 11-a-side we have a good chance.

Man Of The Match: It has to go to Graham Foster for keeping 'the others graham' in his back pocket. No easy feat and I think it demonstates what a great defender we have playing for us. Well done Graham.

but as usual we went into self destruct mode and they scored twice 4-2

26th April 2010 (Phil Wall)

Great turn-out for football.

The others again + 4 teachers and a load of us.

Full size pitch.

we were leading 3-0

but let it slip

final score 4-4

Fair result

Man of the match: phil wall, kept the ball well passed to amar a lot who then managed to lose it a lot!

Rose and crown:  6 turned up. good laugh. very kind landlady yet again offered food, if we phone ahead. Justin will be in charge for organising end of the month rose and crown.
next rose and crown on bank holiday monday 31st MAY 2010.put it in your diary.

19th April 2010 (Alex Hamilton)

The Line-up:
John Weedon, Michael Dykes, Toma Habashi, Amar Sharma, Justin Edwards, Terry Sweeney, Rob Songhust, Phil Wall, Alex Hamilton.

The others again.

Phil Wall made it back from Austria- Should he get man of the match just for that?

We started much better and it took them them a lot longer to score but they did score first.

We got one back 1-1

Again we played well and they found it hard to score again but they did 2-1

We came back again 2-2

Could we hold on or even get the winner?

No!

they scored again and again 4-2

The clock was ticking down and we were knocking on the door they were hanging on for dear life then a wonderful long range strike from the ;downhill skier' Phil Wall, great goal! 4-3

We had so many chances to score again but we wasted them

I cannot remember what happened at the end either they sccored again or they did not and ran out 4-3 winners?

Man of the Match: If you know anything about football you will know why our game was more together this week. It was one man yes one man stood proud on that field and took a stand and said no, enough is enough I will not let the others walk all over us, yes he put his marker down and took the game to them. Now I know the majority think it was amar but would you believe it it was not. No it was another.
He ran the game for us, kept us organised, kept the ball and moved it around well. Yes the award goes to, 'keep it on the deck',  Alex Hamilton. Well played .

12th April 2010 (Toma)

The others again

The line-up; Andy Thomas, Rob West, Amar Sharma, Graham Foster, Rob Songhurst, Terry Sweeney, Toma Habashi, Justin Edwards.

As usual they scored very quickly but then we settled down and they found it difficult to score again for a while but we were no real threat up the other end.

We really did miss our flair players as we could not hold up the ball and were toothless in attack.

All is forgiven 'flair players' you can come back.( you can wear you flared trousers anytime you like).

They kept attacking and moving the ball well and we tried our best to keep the score to a repectable level.

Considering the players we were missing we did well. The others ran out 4-0 winners.

Man Of the Match: Rob West played very well in goal as did Andy Thomas and Graham Foster BUT the man of the match has to go to Toma Habshi. He ran his lungs out up top.
Well Played Toma.

5th April 2010 (Alex Hamilton)

The teams:

Toma Habashi, Michael Dykes, Amar Sharma, Alex Hamilton, Rob Songhurst, Justin Edwards, Graham Foster.

Vs.

David Williams, Rob West, Alex Young, Mark Stares, Phil Wall, Terry Sweeney.

Great turnout for Bank Holiday Monday.

The holiday weekend excesses had taken their toll on energy levels, stamina etc.

It took almost 30 mins to score, Alex H popped up and scored, 1-0.

At the 30 minute mark someone from Alex h's team asked if Phil Wall's team would like the extra man for the second half.

The reply, well ' you keep the extra man'. It was like saying your need him.

As gentlemen Alex H's team took it exactly like that and then someone from Alex H's team said 'let's give these chaps a jolly good thrashing'

Have you seen how the incredible hulk changes well Alex H's team did nothing like that.

Surge after surge, chasing the ball down, defending well, closing down, Phil Wall's team could not live with it

Goal after goal after goal after goal with only one reply from Alex Y.

Alex H scored a hatrick and his team steam rollered out 9-1 winners, yes 9-1, should have taken the extra man swap!

Man of the Match: For scoring 3 goals, keping the ball on the deck, making countless runs inside and being an all round good egg, Alex Hamilton wins this week. This is your second man of the match performance and you and Alex Young are in the running for the end of the 10 week champers prize.

22nd March 2010 (Terry)

Following the 'cock-up of a match report' last week, in which Terry Sweeney played as the invisible man, Alex Hamilton played with his twin brother(also called alex hamilton) and Scott Wilson never got any recognition for his opening goal, please read the disclaimer below, any problems then feel free to contact the legal department.

DISCLAIMER: 'This match report and all subsequent match reports are ONLY a version of actual events and as a direct consequence do not bear any resemblance to real events or the actions of persons either living or dead'.

The line-up: David Williams, Graham Foster, Justin Edwards, Rob Songhurst, Terry Sweeney, Alex Young, Phil Wall, Alex Hamilton, Amar Sharma and Mark Stares.

Wow what a team performance-fantastic.

The 'others' only had 6 so asked us for yet another match, amar and mark went over.

You guys played a superb match, as a team, it was like watching Barcelona the free flowing football, just magnificent. any more free flowing then it might have been Imodium all round for you guys.

You scored first second and third 3-0 up. We could not live with your passing and movement.

However you relaxed and we pulled 2 back 3-2 and with seconds to go amar was put through would he square it up? NO he brought his banana foot to a strikers party!

Just so you know I was trying to score. you ran out 3-2 winners.

Man of the Match: Goals by Alex Y, Phil Wall And Alex H but a very good team performance. In fact you all played so well it is very difficult to pick a man of the match so against all the odds Amar...... Alright, Alright. Looking at all your players I have to say that Terry Sweeney had a vey good game and worked very hard for you guys, so well done Terry you are the man of the match and have one hand on that champers bottle.

15th March 2010 (Alex Young)

The Line-up: John Weedon, David Williams, Mark Stares, Justin Edwards, Amar Sharma, Andy Thomas, Rob West, Graham Foster, Alex Hamilton, Scott Wilson, Alex Hamilton.

The 'others' only had 7 so they asked for a game, as it was 9 against 9 we played 3/4 of the full size pitch. Graham and Rob went over.

The game was fractious I think both teams were put off their stride with the change in pitch size.

They scored first second and third, 3-0 But we came back to 3-2 with 2 great goals from Alex h and Alex y.

The size on the pitch took it's toll on them because they were slowing and heads were dropping and it the last few seconds Scott was clear through on their goal he hits will it be all square? no their keeper saves.

They ran out 3-2 winners.

John Weedon played a fantastic games between the sticks and some fantastic saves.

Man of the match: Alex Hamilton and Scott Wilson put in a good shift up front and John Weedon did play a blinder in goal BUT one player ran his lungs out for the team up and down he took some pressure off our defence with his play. You would not believe it BUT Alex Young wins the man of the match for the second week running. Well played a good performance and well deserved. Alex Young is in pole position to win the champagne at the end of this 10 week stint!

8th March 2010 (Alex Young)

The line-up:
Harvey Griffiths, Justin Edwards, Amar Sharma, Mark Stares, Alex Young, Alex Hamilton, Terry Sweeney and
New Guy Rob West ( intro by Mark-well done Mark).

What a cold cold night, good match and performance.

The other 7pm crowd only had 7 so they asked for a match- we said yes with confidence.

They scored 1st and then got another but our captain Alex Hamilton kept us going and tried to organise us and we got one back.

They had youth, pace, movement we had lack of stamina, tired limbs and signs of ageing!

But we all put in a good performance we brought it back to 5-5 but school boys errors cost us in the end and they ran out winners 7-5.

I think we did well but, we engineered our own downfall, we need to talk more to each other and organise better- if so we could have won!

Man of The Match- Against all the odds and for the third week running Am........ Only JOKING guys.

Alex Hamilton had a great match, good work rate, verbals and excellent movement- perhaps if we listen to him a bit more then maybe......

However for a superb shift up-front two excellent goals and tireless running up and down well done to Alex Young great performance and all this on his birthday.

1st March 2010 (Amar)

The two teams:

Alex Hamilton                                                                   Graham Foster
Amar Sharma                                                                    Phil Wall
Alex Young                                                                       Scott Wilson
Terry Sweeney                                                                  Richard Standring
Rob Songhurst                                                                  Andy Thomas
Harvey Griffiths                                                                  Justin Edwards.

What a match!

It started tight and it looked like there would not be many goals but then Scott opened the scoring for Graham's team and before we knew it Graham's team were 3-0 up, what a shock.

It looked like Alex's team were in for a hammering BUT Alex did not let his teams heads drop he kept them going and then Amar popped up with a fantastic strike to open the way for a new surge from Alex's team.

Every goal keeper that Graham put in made some excellent saves.

Alex's team scored again and at 3-2 the tide weas turning BUT then a fantastic goal from Phil from a corner and it was 4-2.

Alex hamilton then scored a long range cracker and it was 4-3.

Phil then had a rush of blood and prevented a clear goal scoring opportunity and everyone called foul(except Phil of course).

Alex Young Stepped up and put the pen. away and it was 4-4.

Tense.

With 5 mins. to go Alex's team scored again and were leading 5-4 BUT this only gave Graham's team renewed energy, no doubt angry with themselves for letting a 3-0 lead slip.

Phil was clear on goal and only had Amar the keeper to beat, surely he would score and share the spoils BUT NO what a brilliant save from Amar.

Alex's team ran out 5-4 winners. What a fantastic match, great turnout( 6 vs. 6 is what we need every week).

The man of the match can only go to one player for his outstanding all round performance. He scored the first goal for Alex's team and opened the flood gates, made many crucial defensive tackles and made the last minute superb save to stop Phil from equalizing, a match winning performance- Yes the first man to win 'man of the match' 2 weeks in a row, well done Amar-at this rate he could be voted M.V.P and get the bottle of champagne at the end of the 10 week stint.
See you all next week.

22nd February 2010 (Amar)

The line-up:

Terry Sweeney, Andy Thomas, Graham Foster, Rob Songhurst, Richard Standrig, Phil Wall, Amar Sharma, Alex Young , Alex Hamilton, Scott Wilson, Justin Edwards

And

The Boss, Ed, watching from the sidelines.

The Other 7pm crowd had a turn-out of six so requested a match.

They were very confident and only requested two of our players.

Nobody was volunteering so Amar & Richard went over.

It was a tight match and the first goal was a long time coming and it went to them.

Scott then equalized and it looked for a long while that it would be a draw but a quick double blow and they were 3-1 up and that is how the match finished.

The man of the match has to go to Amar, what a performance in goal for the others, sealed the victory with many fine saves. Common guys, lets face it, he probably won't get the man of the match playing in any other position, so we'll let him have it this week.

15th February 2010 (Phil Wall)

The Line-up:

New Player for us: Andy Thomas( introduced by Justin-well done).

Justin Edwards, Graham Foster, Amar Sharma, Terry Sweeney, Alex Young, Phil Wall, Rob Songhurst.

Only 8 so we played the other 7pm crowd.

To even things up, I asked for their best two players.

The match started off very tight, difficult to score but then we were 2 up, they came back to 2-1 but we held firm and ran out winners 4-3.

Our man of the match by far was Phil Wall: good possession in tight areas, travelled well with the ball shrugging off challenges and the icing on the cake: 'two fantastic goals'-well played.
